About Our Classes

Your customer experience is key to the values of the Aotearoa DJ Academy, all equipment and music will be supplied, Students just bring themselves.

All workstations look and feel professional, using Rane mixers / Controllers, Numark Controllers, Pioneer CDJ3000’s & Controllers, Technics Turntables, Serato DJ pro & Macbook pro Laptops.

Booklets with all the lesson goals and information will be theirs to keep and all students will have an opportunity to perform in front of class at the end of course to show off their new found skills.

Classes are small, 8 students maximum for each course insuring you maximise with your learning experience

As a DJ based in Wellington city there isn't really too much that Shan the DJ hasn't accomplished. From playing at a local Wellington Bar to rocking 70,000 people on Courtenay place or 100,000 people for NYE on the Main beach of Mt Maunganui Shan is considered the ultimate party rocking DJ.
Shan is known as a main staple ingredient of the Wellington nightlife and is not only rated as one of NZ's top party rocking DJs but also as a top party rocking host MC.
Shan has also been the face host MC or headline DJ for some of New Zealand's biggest parties period! The Sevens street party, Homegrown, Bay Dreams, The Wellington Cup, Fashion in the field, Cuba Street carnival & the Wellington SuperClub, Bowlarama, Rhythm & Vines. Bay Dreams, Mardi Gras and Synthony and also the host DJ for the Super Saturday Vaxathon TV show.
DJ Raw

Ian Seumanu aka DJ Raw
is a New Zealand hip hop pioneer making his name in the DJ Battle scene dominating and unbeaten in all New Zealand competitions for a whole decade while gaining respect as a world-class turntablist consistently placing in the top ten of both the DMC & ITF World Finals and is the only New Zealander ever to be crowned ITF Australasian DJ Champion.
Performing in groups or solo DJ Raw has amassed a huge list of local and international gigs and events and has played support to some of the industry biggest name like. Chris Brown, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Black Eyed Peas, The Roots, Xzibit, Mario, Jeremih, Lloyd, Pharoahe Monch, Cypress Hill, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beastie Boys, Bone Thugs N Harmony, De La Soul and events New Zealand Rugby 7’s, Big Day Out (NZ & AUS), New Zealand Red Hot (Philippines), Splendour In The Grass to name a few.
DJ Raw has also been the backbone to some of New Zealand’s most influential groups and artist as a DJ and award winning producer, such as Gifted & Brown, Overstayers, Footsouljahs, King Kapisi and Flowz.
DJ Raw maintains a busy schedule running New Zealand’s 1st NZQA approved DJ school established in 2004 and New Zealand’s 1st MC school, Playing to thousands every weekend on his Takeover Mix-show on Mai FM, NZ’s largest Hip Hop & RnB station as well as playing and promoting club shows in Wellington and around the country.
